Company description
Notre-Dame Maritime is a private hospital, founded in 1981 by Dr Antoine CHAMI in collaboration with Drs Khalil and Robert GERMANOS. It is located in Jbeil, 30 km north of Beirut. The owners are doctors Joseph and Jean-Pierre CHAMI.
The hospital currently has 95 inpatient beds. In addition to medicine and surgery beds, there are 9 gynecology-obstetrics beds, 14 pediatric beds (including 3 incubators), 12 adult intensive care beds and 10 day hospital beds. All specialties are represented except cardiac surgery. Psychiatry is provided in consultation and hospitalization for minor cases only.
A process of modernization of the hospital has been in place since 1998. All the facades have been redone and three new floors have been built.
2000 : opening of the invasive radiology and
2004 : opening of the dialysis service which has 10 beds.
2005 : acquisition of land of more than 10,000 m 2 adjacent to the hospital, allowing the development of a car park and a cafeteria. In the future, it will make it possible to carry out hospital extension projects.
2010 : refitting of the 2nd floor into a mother-child service spread over the two wings. Opening of the 3rd floor . Redevelopment of the polyclinic on the ground floor with an ambulatory care room. Implementation of a new management information system.
2011 : redevelopment of the medical imaging department with digitization of the system. Purchase of two new conventional radiology machines, a 16-bar scanner and a new ultrasound scanner.
2012 : opening of the 4th floor , the physiotherapy center and a sleep unit.
2013 : reorganization and modernization of the laboratory.
2014 : redevelopment and expansion of the emergency department. Creation of an endoscopy room. Installation of a PACS system facilitating the dissemination and archiving of medical imaging.
The current restructuring plans provide for the reorganization of the intensive care unit which will be separated into two parts (one devoted to cardiological care, the other devoted to multi-purpose care), the reorganization of the operating theater with the creation of a sterilization independent centre, and finally the reorganization of the administrative services.
Little anecdote about the name of the hospital. The name "Notre-Dame Maritime" was given to the hospital in reference to the Notre-Dame Maritime chapel which faces the hospital. In Arabic, the translation transformed "Sainte Maritime" into "Saydat Martine" which was retranslated into French as "Sainte Martine". Other people in the region continue to call the hospital “Chami” in commemoration of its founder, Doctor Antoine CHAMI.
Mission “ Quality at the service of patients ”
The hospital's mission is to provide the best medical and surgical care and services to all of its patients. Technical progress and medical knowledge now make it possible to guarantee an increasingly high level of quality in the care of each patient. This double requirement, safety and quality of care and reception, constantly mobilizes the teams on the care protocols and the evaluation of the results. The high qualification of the hospital trades requires from each of the professionals a constant effort of rigor and training. And of course, a relational availability to welcome and monitor each patient throughout their stay.
We ensure our mission of care for all patients, including the most disadvantaged.
We carry out our training mission on a regional scale: we contribute, in close collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health of the Lebanese University, the University Institute of the Holy Family of Batroun, the Antonine Sisters, the du Saint-Esprit and the Nader Institute in Koura for the training of midwives, registered nurses, radio technicians, physiotherapists and nursing auxiliaries.
We are constantly modernizing our infrastructure and equipment.
We are committed to a quality approach based on the accreditation standards of the Ministry of Health and on the ISO 9001-2000 quality management standards in order to guarantee the quality of medical and surgical care for patients and their safety.
In the field of quality and safety of care, we put our skills at the service of doctors in the region.
Vision
Quality orientation places the patient at the center of all hospital activities. The enhancement of the practice of care, equipment, hygiene, health and safety at work as well as the quality of family care and hospitality are permanent concerns. The hospital is also a company serving the region by promoting employment and local trade.
